Jia-Yi HAR

Jia-Yi Har is a London-based Partner at Cathay Health, where she focuses on venture and growth investments across digital health, diagnostics, biotechnology and medical device spaces. Jia-Yi brings 15 years of professional experience in scientific research, healthcare investment, venture building and business management. Prior to joining Cathay, she was a healthcare investment professional at Partners Group and was responsible for deal origination, due diligence and value creation strategies of healthcare portfolio companies. Thereafter, she became the Asia Pacific business leader of Philips Healthcare’s Imaging Software business. Leveraging her operational and finance experience, Jia-Yi went on to cofound and build early-stage health ventures in digital on-demand homecare and consumer genetics. Prior to her business career, she was an academic laboratory researcher for six years in environmental microbiology, genetics and biophysics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and National University of Singapore (NUS). Her research work has been published in several international peer-reviewed scientific journals. Jia-Yi holds a MSc in Civil & Environmental Engineering (Microbial Genetics) from MIT, where she received the Schoettler and Linden Earth System Fellowships. She passed the qualification examinations and successfully defended the thesis proposal of her PhD studies before returning to Asia to start her investment career. She also holds BSc (1st class Honours) in Cell & Molecular Biology from NUS.
