Powell acquires Synigo, extending its digital workplace platform to reach 100% of employees

The acquisition, Powell’s first, gives the company a footprint in the Netherlands, and accelerates its expansion across Europe, bringing together two platforms that reach 100% of an organization’s employees.
PARIS, France & DEVENTER, the Netherlands – September 1, 2026 – Powell, a Microsoft 365-native digital workplace platform, today announced it has acquired Synigo, a Netherlands-based digital workplace provider best known for its product Synigo Pulse. The transaction closed on August 6, 2026.
Two complementary platforms: one digital workplace for every employee, from desk to frontline
The acquisition brings together two complementary digital workplace platforms that now serve the full range of an organization’s employees. Powell transforms Microsoft 365 into the digital workplace employees actually use and the trusted knowledge base their AI needs, combining employee experience, IT governance and AI readiness in a single platform. Synigo brings a fast, user-centric platform built for frontline workers that can be deployed in as little as a day, including guest access for people without a Microsoft 365 licence. Together, they reach 100% of an organization’s employees, from desk to frontline, across education, healthcare and logistics and give their AI a single trusted foundation to work from.
Synigo also strengthens Powell’s answer to digital sovereignty, a growing priority for European organizations as concerns about where data lives and who can access it continue to rise. Unlike Powell, which is built natively on Microsoft 365, Synigo operates on its own infrastructure, giving customers a genuinely independent option for where their data lives.
Together, Powell and Synigo serve more than 800 organizations and over 2.5 million users worldwide.
An acquisition designed to offer customers continuity and proximity, and to accelerate both products
The deal marks Powell’s first operational presence in the Netherlands, a market where Microsoft 365 adoption is strong. Deeper frontline capabilities and data sovereignty choices will be gradually introduced to the Powell platform.
Synigo will continue to operate under its own name and product, with co-founders Xavier Geerdink and Derk van Lochem continuing to lead the Netherlands business. Xavier will remain focused on commercial activity and the Benelux region, while Derk continues to lead the product development. Both products continue to operate independently for the time being; there is no forced migration for either customer base.
“Digital sovereignty is on every European boardroom’s mind right now, and Synigo gives us a real answer to it. But honestly, what sold us was the team: Xavier, Derk and everyone at Synigo have built something that actually works, in a market we didn’t have a foothold in yet. Together, we can reach 100% of an organization’s people. We couldn’t be happier to welcome them aboard,” said Edouard Payenneville, CEO of Powell.
“From our first conversations with Powell, what struck us was how aligned we already were, same vision, same ambitions for what a digital workplace should be. Joining forces means Synigo Pulse keeps building, now with more resources, more R&D, and new markets ahead. Derk and I, and the whole Synigo team, are excited for what’s next,” said Xavier Geerdink, co-founder of Synigo.
“This acquisition marks an important step in Powell’s next phase of growth. Synigo brings highly complementary capabilities, particularly for frontline employees and digital sovereignty, while establishing a strong foothold in the Benelux market. It also demonstrates Powell’s ability to product innovation with targeted international expansion to build a broader European digital workplace leader,” said Jean-Marc Prunet, Partner at Cathay Capital.
